The “live for the moment Iceland tour” starts by a drive along the hillsides of Hvalfjörður, the “whale” fjord. After approximately 40 minutes of driving we will start our 2-hour trek along a small hiking trail to Iceland’s highest waterfall, Glymur (198m/650 feet). From there we drive to the Borgarfjördur valley and visit the waterfalls of Hraunfossar (Lava Falls) and Barnafoss (Children’s Falls). We will continue to the lava field of Hallmundarhraun where Surtshellir, one of Iceland’s longest and best known lava caves, is to be found. We will pass the historic site of Reykholt, where the poet and politician Snorri Sturluson lived in the 12th century, on our way to look at Europe’s largest hot spring, Deildartunguhver, before returning to Reykjavik via the tunnel under Hvalfjördur fjord.
