1st day
First stop is at Þingvellir national park, which is one of Iceland’s most significant historic sites. It was there that Iceland’s first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD. From Þingvellir we head along mountain tracks toward the waterfall Gullfoss, a sight you will never forget and to some people one of the most magnificent waterfalls in Iceland. We´ll also visit Geysir and the geothermal area in Haukadalur valley, where you can see our world-renowned spouting springs. Strokkur (Buter Churn) is one of the largest and most powerful geysers and it erupts almost every 4-5 minutes, gushing hot water 10-15 metres into the air. On our way to Landmannalaugar, we will be driving through Þjórsádalur valley with its wonderful surprises of magnificent waterfalls and ruins from the 11th century. At Landmannalaugar you can bathe outside in a natural warm pool where hot and cold springs mix together. Landmannalaugar is surrounded by colourful rhyolite mountains – formed through centuries of volcanic activity in the area - giving it an indescribable haunting beauty. From Landmannalaugar we will go to Fjallabak nature reserve (Behind the Mountains) and stay in a tent/hut overnight.
2nd day
We start the day by having breakfast at 8:30 and then preparing our lunch packets. We will continue our tour through the Fjallabak nature reserve and head towards the south coast, visiting the waterfall Seljalandsfoss on our way to Þórsmörk.
Þórsmörk nature reserve offers a unique composition of three glaciers, rocks and greenery, not to mention the glacial rivers we have to cross to get there. We will walk up to the edge of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier and see small glacial lagoon and stay overnight in a tent/hut.
3th day
Again we will start the day with breakfast at 8:30 and then prepare our lunch packets. From Þórsmörk we will go back to the south coast and visit the waterfall at Skógar, have a tour through the folk museum of Skogar, and from there we take a magical walk on a glacier at Myrdalsjökull. In the afternoon we will turn back to Reykjavík.
